Born: 09/23/1980 Hinsdale - Illinois

Now impressing listeners for 10 years, Brian Owen continues to excel in his programming, mixing, and production abilities. Raised in Chicago and New Jersey, he first experienced the nightlife scene during the New York City club era of Twilo, Tunnel, Limelight, and Vinyl. After many of these large clubs closed the New York vibe shifted towards more intimate settings like Filter 14, GrooveJet, Sin Sin, and Sullivan Room – where Brian sharpened his musical fangs with homegrownNYC. New York recently entered another superclub paradigm and Owen’s career moved forward alongside the city. In the last year he opened for Serge Devant and John '00' Fleming on the main floor of Avalon, and has played in both the Reed and Prop Rooms at Crobar.

Brian learned to manage, book, and promote weekly and one-off parties thanks to HomegrownNYC. At its pinnacle as an event driven organization the crew booked over 300 local DJ’s at over 150 events. HG still supports and organizes the “Tech Support” party in NYC although recently the 6 members have begun focusing on independent projects. After HG stopped organizing weekly events Brian’s expertise was brought to flawless nightlife, where he joined the prestigious client roster (Erick Morillo, Sander Klienenberg) and began his second residency at local hotspot Industry. Following these initial steps Brian took over the reigns at flawless digital, an exclusively digital record label that has inked distribution deals with Beatport.com, Playittonight.com, Audiojelly.com and EDMdigital.com.

Brian's weekly webcast show Aboveground Radio has brought in talent from all over the world and as the first and longest running show on the now defunct metromixradio.com, Aboveground peaked at over 4500 unique listeners each week. Aboveground has since moved to its new home on Frisky Radio (www.friskyradio.com), and has aired over 150 episodes and 75 unique guests from around the globe.

Recently he began using an Apple G4 Powerbook in conjunction with Rane/Serato Scratchlive and Ableton Live. This hardware/software combination gives Brian the flexibility with musical genres and mixing styles that places him on the technological forefront of EDM and live performances. In 2005 he released his first production “In your Skull” in conjunction with Doug Waylo on flawless digital.

Into early 2006 Brian will be focused on Miami as an A&R rep with Fiberlineaudio.com as well as organizing the weekly Sunday party “Eden” at The Beach Plaza Hotel. Looking forward to the future with eagerness, Brian Owen aims to prove himself to more and more listeners each week with his creative bass lines and thoughtful set planning. Mixes are available for download through www.brian-owen.com.

His most notable achievement to date has been earning “honorable mention” in the Futuremusic/John Digweed "Next Big Thing" DJ competition in 2004.
